A humble attempt to make complex legal issues understandable to the younger members of the Bar, law students, and the laywoman.

About the Author:

While Bharat’s journey in law began much earlier (as he started going to Courts as a teenager), he graduated in Law in 2011 from Jamia Millia Islamia.

In 2013, at the age of 23, he secured the 1st rank in the Delhi Judicial Service Exam, and was appointed as a Civil Judge/Metropolitan Magistrate, dedicating about three and a half years to various roles within the Delhi judiciary.

In 2016, Bharat chose to pivot back to the practice of law.

Bharat has served as a Partner at L&L Partners (formerly Luthra and Luthra Law Offices)

Bharat has served on various committees/policy discussions and has also been appointed as amicus curiae by the High Court to assist the court in some serious criminal cases. He is also a part of the Young SIAC (Singapore International Arbitration Centre) steering committee.

Bharat has a keen interest in academia and is a guest lecturer/resource person at various academies & has conducted various training programs for aspiring and serving judges, civil servants, arbitrators, advocates (defence counsel and prosecutors), company secretaries, chartered accountants, aspiring resolution professionals (under IBC), doctors, prison officials, forensic experts, and corporate counsel, amongst others.

Bharat is an avid reader and writer and writes on issues relating to : The Law, the Criminal Justice System, Art of Advocacy, The Art of Justicing, Commercial/Tech/Cyber/Social Media Law, Arbitration Law, issues of Cyber Crime/Electronic Evidence, and Public Policy, amongst others.

Bharat also sits on the Board of Advisors of Satya : Pro Bono Law, which seeks to bridge the existing divide between justice and the marginalized groups of society by building a team of highly skilled pro bono lawyers who are serious about securing JUSTICE and EQUALITY for all. 

Bharat currently practices as an Independent Counsel and heads The Chambers of Bharat Chugh, with a bunch of young and dynamic lawyers who take the profession (but not themselves) seriously, with offices in Delhi and Gurugram.
